The material is then subjected to grinding, shaping, magnetic iron separation, and particle size screening to create various products. With its dense texture, high hardness, and angular shape, white corundum is well-suited for crafting ceramics, resin-bonded abrasive tools, as well as grinding, polishing, sandblasting, and precision casting (including investment casting special corundum). It also finds application in the manufacturing of top-quality refractory materials.
The hardness of white corundum is marginally higher but toughness is slightly lower compared to brown corundum. It boasts high purity, excellent self-sharpening ability, strong grinding power, minimal heat generation, high efficiency, resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, and thermal stability at high temperatures. White corundum does not alter the color of the workpiece and is ideal for sandblasting procedures where iron powder residue is undesired.
